Brussels sprouts, the season at SIPO kicks off
Sipo is pleased to announce that the Brussels sprout produced from November to April and 100% grown in Italy is again available.
“This reference is experiencing strong growth. Production takes place in Italy, in Liguria, and large-scale distribution greatly appreciates the national origin compared to the foreign one”.

We prepare 350 gram trays and we are doing research, together with a seed company, to cultivate new varieties that will allow us to extend the production calendar “.
Brussels sprouts belong to the Brassicaceae family and are grown in many areas of the world throughout the year, but especially in central and northern Europe. Being a variety of cabbage, in the early juvenile stages the plant is the same as that of cabbages. Later, during growth, the plant develops a central stem that can reach a meter in height and sprouts develop around the stem.
Brussels sprouts lend themselves to various quick and easy preparations. To make them more digestible they should always be blanched in salted water for a few minutes
Sprouts contain a good amount of minerals, proteins, fibers and vitamins. They are real stimulants of brain activity and concentration. They are a mine of antioxidants and for this reason they are considered a useful food in the prevention of cancer
